Southwest Pattern Beaded Barrette - Large
Beaded Barrette - Southwestern Design by Mava Seaman
The peyote stitch band of this barrette is 4.25 inches long by 1 inch wide.
I used Miyuki Delica Beads in size 11 for the body of the barrette and trimmed the edges using Miyuki matte sterling silver plated seed beads, size 15, in a picot stitch.
The barrette blank (clip part) is 3.25 inches. This is considered a large barrette and will hold thick hair or a bun well. The design is one-of-a-kind.
I have been beading since the mid-1990s and am self-taught. When I started beading, I mainly used Bead & Button magazine and made some of their many projects until I learned enough techniques and stitches to begin designing my own things. I enjoy making beaded projects using different stitches and styles and rarely make the same design twice. I have rarely sold any of my pieces. Then, on a whim, I decided to start making earrings and barrettes to sell on Etsy in October 2021. I am considering expanding to include bracelets and necklaces.
I love to see other bead artists' work and share ideas and techniques.
I will consider bespoke, as well. Just message me!
